I really don’t know why I decided to study geography.
I always like geography but I never knew about the career, I also like very
much nature, animals, botany, earth sciences and social sciences, so I think
that geography could be a good career for me.
About two years ago, I had no idea that I wanted to study; I saw many
options like sociology, history, Engineering, English. But then I heard
about geography and I thought that was a complete discipline. I didn’t know a
geographer to guide me, and I didn’t know what a geographer does, so I
investigate about geography for myself.
I like natural sciences and social sciences, and geography is a career that
complement both, my tastes are so variable, so I think I never could study
something specific.
I think geography is a profession who give you opportunities to help
people, to know about the planet, to travel and a lot of more beautiful things.
The cities and public policy have very bad organization, and the society needs
geographers to fix that.
I am hopeful that geography will have a place on the cities’ organization, because
in Chile are many problems with natural disasters like earthquakes and the
cities, villages and rural zones are not always prepare for that, because of
the location of buildings and houses, and geographers have much to say about
that.
To study geography in Chile is fascinating, because is a land with a varied
terrain, and different climates that make it very interesting.
